This exhibit features 31 oil paintings - portraits, still-life and wildlife, all painted in the 17th century, Chiaroscuro Italian-Renaissance style. Dr. Nichols uses the archetypal technique that features a classic color-palette dominated by dark earth tones and golden highlights, modified delicately by many layers of color-mixed-glazes. Each piece is executed with minutely detailed precision, unerringly true to life, and a mysterious “more than” realism quality that grabs viewers’ attention.
Dr. Nichols is a nationally recognized outstanding portrait artist whose subjects include many political, business, educational, medical and religious leaders.

"Whether it is with paint, pen, or clay my work is always an exploration of the interrelatedness of all things; it speaks to the infinite, the eternal, the cyclical nature of being, the sculptural echoes between nature & flesh, especially the feminine, and ephemeral form.I do not make a linear practice of technique when I work; rather I practice a form of deep listening and take a sort of dictation, so that I am both baffled and delighted by each visual manifestation."

"As a young girl, I envisioned being the first girl on the moon. Within nature and within the far-reaches of space, I wanted to experience every reality firsthand. I learned that art and life invite us to make space for our inner creativity while honoring the creative life of others. Over time, that dance of space challnged me to refashion acquired roles and identities, expanding to become more and more present to the threads of love and compassion within myself and within my world. This series of paintings and poetry invite exploration of the space we give to our inner and outer journeys. "

Helping Nepal
with Nakita Bickle
June 5th 2015
60% of the proceeds from Nakita Bickle's art will help to send her to Nepal this summer for earthquake relief as well as 10% of all other sales on Friday, June 5th.
"In 2011, I embarked on a one month adventure to Nepal. While there I stayed in Kathmandu, Nepal for two weeks as well as in the village called Pohkora. While on my journey, I made many new brothers & sisters in Christ. This year, the homes of my Nepali brothers & sisters have been shaken by two 7.5 earthquakes as well as multiple aftershocks.
Today, my life journey is taking me back over seas. I will be visiting my Nepali brothers in Kathmandu. My team and I will be walking right into the nitty-gritty as we help to clear rubble left from the recent earthquake. But more than anything, my Nepali brothers need encouragement. We will make ourselves available, for two weeks, to brighten their spirits physically, emotionally, and spiritually. Journey with me. All profits made from my artwork will go directly towards sending me to Nepal in July 2015."
